Coderetreat is a day-long, intensive practice event, focusing on the fundamentals of software development and design. By providing developers the opportunity to take part in focused practice, away from the pressures of 'getting things done', the coderetreat format has proven itself to be a highly effective means of skill improvement. Practicing the basic principles of modular and object-oriented design, developers can improve their ability to write code that minimizes the cost of change over time.
The Des Moines Coderetreat is limited to 16 participants and is open to any languages / platforms.
Bring a laptop with your preferred development tools already installed and configured so you can quickly start working on a new project. For example, if you're using Ruby you might want to have a skeleton project set up with RSpec and Guard already configured. This is just an example. You're free to use any language or platform you wish. Be prepared to pair program however.
Thanks to our sponsor Goodsmiths, lunch will be provided.
To attend, please RSVP through the EventBrite link above.
