Event Description

All software developers are invited to join Pillar at our new Ann Arbor facility, the Forge, located in the historic Northern Brewery building for a day of software development practice. There is no charge, and the day includes continental breakfast and a nice lunch.

If possible, bring a laptop with your favorite software development tools. If you can't bring one, don't worry - we'll be pair programming so you will be able to work on someone else's computer.

What languages will be supported in this event?

Comment by Jeff Hoover on July 26, 2012 at 8:18pm

Hello Azzam,

I can't say for sure what languages will be supported - it depends on who attends that day. But I would say it is not uncommon to see C#, Java, or Ruby. I wouldn't be surprised if there would be Javascript or PHP. Sometimes there are less common languages too. I hope that helps.

Is there a particular language you would like to work in? Can you bring a laptop with a development system on it?

Best,

Jeff

I'm interested in C#. I've programmed in Windows Forms Applications and worked on my own ideas, but I'd like to know it in a more professional way and learn new things if possible. I'm interested in Windows Phone development and Android/Java too if possible.

I could bring in a laptop with Visual Studio on it. That's not a problem.

You should be able to find plenty of people to pair with. There will be a time for people to tell what languages they are interested in. Be sure and mention the your favorites. You might want to start with C# for the first 2-3 sessions to get comfortable with the problem before you find someone who will pair with you on Windows phone.
